Artist of the month : Dovredski (july 2024)

Dirk Devos, also known as “Dovredski,” hails from Kaprijke and has dedicated his life to visual expression. As a young artist, he attended drawing school and developed a strong affinity for visual arts. His creative inspiration draws from renowned artists like James Ensor, Gustav Klimt, and Egon Schiele, whose works he studied extensively.

In his Kaprijke studio, Dirk Devos passionately produces art and hosts annual exhibitions featuring pieces from various periods. These exhibitions are delightful occasions, attracting a captivating audience and devoted fans. Since 2006, Dirk has embraced an anagram of his name, transforming “Dirk Devos” into the enigmatic “Dovredski.” This shift in perspective has alleviated the pressures he once felt as a human being.

Despite exploring themes that often delve into darkness—such as eroticism, death, and violence—Dovredski now feels more at ease creating within the confines of his studio
