Designed by retired driver Carroll Shelby starting in 1960, the AC Cobra or Shelby Cobra was to compete with the sports cars of the time. The Shelby Cobra 427 appeared in 1965 with a 7-liter V8 engine that could develop up to 487 hp. It is a superstar in the “muscle car” category (oversized engine).
