Tempera paintings are known for their delicate beauty and durability. Tempera dates back centuries. It was used by our great masters before oil paint existed. The tempera technique involves mixing pure pigment (which comes from semi-precious stones, rocks, plants, insects and more) with water and an emulsion of egg yolk; honey; gum arabic or another medium. The grinding of the pigments and the preparation of the paint is intensive and time consuming.
nit has developed her own style within the old tempera technique. After a career of 22 years as an advertising artist, manual photo engraving and 18 years as an interior painter villa projects, she started traveling to remote areas, looking for pigments that these people use. She makes her paint from these natural pigments. She creates a special 3D effect by building up the paint in different layers. Thanks to the light transparency of the tempera paint, a unique depth and clarity is created that cannot be matched with oil paint. nit works intuitively and gets her color combinations from nature.
