Helga Renders, born in Beerse, lives and works in Herentals.
I have been drawing and coloring from an early age. It never occurred to me to become an artist. Still, I would have liked to do my thing in the creative sector. After repeatedly asking my parents permission to study art, I was allowed to continue studying for publicity in Antwerp after high school. I was doing holiday work and used it to pay for my bus pass. It wasn't until many years later that I taught myself to paint and came to the conclusion that I wanted to keep doing that. I wanted to be an artist. I am now also taking a sculpture course and I have a very good feeling about it. My creative mind is always on the move, I wouldn't be myself if I wasn't allowed to paint or sculpt anymore.
I love distorting realism with unusual colour combinations. Hinting at familiarity but leaving scope for imagination.
