Biography
Belgian, born in Congo, I am a painter and currently live in Belgium in a small village near Luxembourg.
I grew up among nature, architecture and contemporary art lovers. Since my childhood I am particularly touched by the works of painters W. Turner, V. Van Gogh. After having followed a training in chemical sciences, I pursue a career in computer science.
As a lover of the great outdoors, I have always been concerned with the environment and the preservation of the beauty and diversity of our earth. Since my teenage years, I express my feelings through visual arts, especially through photography.
As an adult, I regularly rubbed shoulders with my uncle , himself a painter, whose artistic work I appreciated more and more. He undoubtedly gave me the desire to paint and influenced my taste for abstract painting and colors.
It is in 2017, that it seems obvious to me that I have a crying need to express my emotions through painting.
After an intense professional career, I begin in 2018 a course in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts.
The visit of an exhibition in Paris in 2018 on Zaō Wou-Ki was for me a revelation and a turning point in my artistic life.
My childhood, my life in symbiosis with nature as well as my numerous and distant trips have a major influence on my creative activities.
The light, the colors, the rhythms, the smells, the environment are for me so many sources of emotions and inspiration.
In 2020 I discovered painters such as Gerhard Richter, and then in 2021 Fran O'Neill who are for me new artistic references.
I wish to continue to paint and explore new techniques, participate in other exhibitions and promote my art internationally.
Artistic approach
I generally use acrylic paints and inks, and oil pastels on canvas.
As a lover of the great outdoors, I've always been concerned by everything to do with respect for the environment and preserving the beauty and diversity of our Earth.
Light, colour, rhythm and the environment are all sources of emotion and inspiration for me.
I don't necessarily try to recreate what I've seen, but rather the experience of what I've felt and how I've perceived it.
The themes I'm currently tackling involve painting the intangible, the energy of the elements in the space around us, kinetics, the path of thought, of life.
It's a macro vision and the canvas formats can be larger. These themes are omnipresent in our environment.
Abstraction, colour, rhythm, light and the movement of paint all come into play on the canvas to convey the feeling of space experienced at a given moment. By exploiting the fluid movement of the paint as I apply it, I can add my own dynamic to the image-making process.
Always on the lookout for something new, this year I painted some portraits on cardboard that often touch on the imaginary and the abstract. I'd like to continue exploring this universe and transmitting the emotions I feel.
