Hi, let me introduce myself : I am Sigrid Moorkens, interior architect, traveler, cat lover, proud mother of a teenage son and abstract painter under the name Sigrid Bedeer.

After my studies in interior architecture at the Henry van de Velde Institute, I started working in 1993 at an architectural firm in Antwerp. My love for details, colors, structure, perfectionism and coordination talent, gave me a rich learning experience and beautiful realizations (which I am still proud of). In 2018 I needed a new challenge and decided to take a different path, followed a number of courses, workshops and made some beautiful inspiring trips.

" When things change inside you, things change around you " ✨

In my search, besides the courses on personal development, I also took a course in singing, dancing (tango), in other words, everything that was new and that I hadn't tried yet had to go. Through career guidance at Passion for Work, where we first worked intensively on my perfectionism, I finally started painting after an online webinar by Carine Van Hee.

For me, abstract painting means clearing your head and going to your feelings. Getting away from the world, going inside and having time to myself. Feeling what is present in you at that moment, letting go of the result and putting your emotions on canvas with full devotion.

The bright and warm colors in my paintings reflect my fiery, sometimes restless and passionate qualities, which have long been suppressed and not allowed to be seen. The lighter tones are more a representation of my gentle strength and sensitivity.

For now, my car is not in the barn and the garage has been transformed into a small painting studio. My dream is to find a beautiful place in nature to live and work. Also a place that offers space for myself and other inspired souls to paint and create together. Meanwhile, the first workshops in my garage are a reality and a new studio is in the works.

My studio is usually clean and tidy, but when I am busy and let myself go completely, "the garage" is sometimes completely flooded. When I'm not satisfied with a result or it doesn't feel ok, I use all kinds of materials and turn it into something else. From spraying to pouring over with water or another paint color, to washing almost everything back off ... If you don't try, you don't know what the possibilities are or what gems sometimes lie beneath the surface.

Now whence the name BE DEAR. This is derived from my birth name Bedeer (°1971) and stands for "be kind and in the first place to yourself" ...

Please feel free to look around my website www.bedear.be/en/artshop and if you have any questions I would love to hear from you.

Love, Sigrid
