This painting was born from a moment of inner chaos. A raw, passionate energy that needs release. I often experience strong emotions as storms brewing beneath the surface, and in this work, I gave that storm a shape, a color, a movement. The sea, for me, is a mirror: it reflects everything that stirs below. Fire, turmoil, transformation. Ignited in the Deep is not just about water or waves; it’s about the emotional wildness we carry inside, and the beauty that can rise from it when we let it erupt.
Since becoming a mother, my creative process has shifted profoundly and this painting is the first result of this that I'm sending out into the world. Painting with my daughter taught me to let go of rigid techniques learned in artschool and rediscover the freedom of pure expression. Where I once worked with a plan, I now paint from instinct, in this piece, I even set aside my brushes entirely and painted a large part with my hands. It’s one of the most honest works I’ve created.
